The Big Year -- 5 thumbs up! Bonus Fallout outside of the cinema

Yesterday, our group of 5 (birding folk are we) went to the 5 pm showing of The Big Year at the Citadel Mall Cinema.  For someone who has not read the book recently (moi), it was most enjoyable!  There were plenty of laughs and all of the characters were very well played.  Seriously, who can refrain from laughing at a duo like Steve Martin and Jack Black?  There were some "plot" changes that were very appropriate for the movie, I felt, as they did fictionalize the story to a degree.  As a birder, I am naturally biased towards birding movies but I believe the non-birding types would like it as well.  The movie provides a nice moral lesson at the end and everybody wins, in the end, mostly!

Bonus material for us upon exiting the cinema:  we had our very own fallout of egrets, white ibises and tri-colored herons as hundreds of these were flying in or were already roosting in the trees around the retention pond next to the cinema! Very nice ending!

So Carl and I decided to return this evening to capture the moment for the blog.

Here is a selection of photos that we obtained.  Enjoy!
